It all began on Memorial Day 2010. A group of four, tired of the everyday national-brand coffee scene in Fort Worth, came together to build something much better. Longing to create a local experience in specialty coffee that captures the vertical aspects of the coffee supply chain—from coffee farmer to customer—Avoca Coffee was born. Driven by the founders’ shared dream and passion for consistently crafting the perfect cup of coffee, the goal was to create a coffee shop by the community, for the community. They knew it wouldn’t be easy—building a brand from scratch and establishing a successful retail, wholesale, and roasting operation. But, then again, neither was drinking bland, over-roasted coffee every day.
They needed the perfect location for this idea, and they found it in an old, closed-down scooter shop on Magnolia Ave in Fort Worth, Texas. The local neighborhood, known as the Fairmont District, was undergoing a major transition into a vibrant, family-friendly community. This new community needed a gathering place—a spot where people could meet, share ideas, community leaders could stop by and converse with residents, and friends could simply stay caffeinated with great coffee—knowing the drinks were made specifically for them.
As the first commercial coffee roaster in Fort Worth, Avoca has always strived to set the highest standard for roasting and serving coffee, inspiring joy and a love for coffee in everyone who walks through its doors. The founders’ unwavering spirit and commitment turned their dream into an incredible reality, making Avoca Coffee a beloved landmark in the city.

Avoca Coffee is made from specialty-grade artisan micro-roasted beans, perfected through detailed work, method, and obsession. We carefully select dedicated coffee farmers who prioritize quality over quantity, ensuring only the finest coffee beans make it to your cup. This commitment is reflected in our selection of farmers, who are rewarded for their focus on quality—not just the weight of their harvest. This quality-focused mindset changes the entire farming, growing, harvesting, and compensation structure to prioritize passion, ethical practices, and environmentally sustainable methods. Less than 10% of worldwide coffee is graded as specialty grade.
The origin of our coffee is integral to its exceptional quality. We specialize in single-origin and single-estate beans. Coffee grown in different regions of the world has unique tasting characteristics. While we prefer sourcing our beans from regions in East Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific—often from altitudes up to 6,000 feet—we are always searching for the best coffee beans in the world. This careful selection process ensures a concentrated, unique flavor in every cup.
Our meticulous approach continues beyond the farm. After the coffee cherries are picked, dried, and processed, they undergo stringent quality control stages, including hulling, hand-sorting, and cupping. Every step ensures that our coffee meets the highest standards set by the Specialty Coffee Association. Only beans with zero primary defects and exceptional taste profiles move forward to the roasting stage.

At Avoca Coffee, our roasting process is an art form. Our roasters undergo extensive training and hands-on experience to perfect their craft. Each batch is closely monitored to achieve the ideal roast profile, caramelizing the beans to bring out their full flavor and aroma.
